Maintaining optimum performance in any activity that is demanding on the body is paramount. This workshop is open to all levels of runners, walkers, and anyone looking to increase mobility in their hips and back. The workshop is made up of four sections:
1) Exercises to open the fascia and muscles of the feet and legs, along with stretches to open the chest for more efficient breathing
2) A warm up sequence to prepare the body for a running / walking workout.
3) A 30 minute vinyasa yoga flow to warm the body
4) A post “run” routine of hip opening poses and stretches releasing connective tissue and common tight areas in the body, ending with a calming, relaxing savasana.
These exercises isolate specific muscle groups that, when done regularly, can balance and strengthen the major muscle groups used and can complement your running routine. You will leave the workshop with a handout of some conditioning exercises and stretches to take home as part of your own home practice. No running or yoga experience necessary.
